Imagine using your subjective consciousness to awaken that eternal part of you that is connected to the Cosmic Unity at the center of all creation. Imagine being able to move beyond the limitations placed on our waking mind by our senses. This would be the art of polarization and it’s a form of mental alchemy that dates back further than any of us can accurately trace.
Personally, I have a desire to help people move beyond the limitations of our physical being into a spiritual realm of interconnectedness with God. As a result, I have developed several meditative techniques to achieve this aim. The reasons are multifaceted: By cultivating a genuine desire to help others I am no only filling my life with meaning but I am also making myself a partner of Divine will- I am a servant of God working towards achieving Heaven on Earth.
It sounds complicated but the method is actually quite simple:
- Visualize your desires. Create a clear and concise mental image of the desired outcome.
- Picture your intent and fix your attention on it. Make it as realistic as possible and fully immerse yourself in it engaging all of your senses. What would you smell? What would you hear? How would you feel?
- Live your intention mentally as if it’s already happening. Disregard any contradictory pictures, real or imagined.
- Feel gratitude filling your being for all the good in your life that has come from accomplishing your goal. Give thanks to God for answering your prayers.
“Every adversity, every failure, every heart ache carries with it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit.”
-Napoleon Hill
Think of a situation you’ve been dwelling on in a negative way. Think of an area that seems to be getting in the way of your goals. This is a perfect opportunity to engage your subconscious and double down on your goals. Even the most painful situations are agents of change if we allow ourselves to grow through what we go through. Knowing that your awareness of being is always present beneath the confines of your waking mind is a great source of power. One can simply say to themselves. “subconscious, remind me to be grateful for the lessons I’m learning by going through this drama.”
Then while visualizing the subconscious as a mirror image of ourselves, we take a deep breath and mentally repeat the auto-suggestion on the exhale three times– .“subconscious, remind me to be grateful for the lessons I’m learning by going through this drama.” Once we’ve finished we close out by simply stating “if it pleases my subconscious, let it be.”
Now this sort of exercise can and should be highly personalized to meet whatever belief you actually have. I think of the passage in Wisdom 7:26 that states ‘For She is the reflection of eternal light, the spotless mirror of the power of God, the image of His goodness,” when performing this ritual. While I rely on Sophia- Woman Wisdom to Solomon- to be my spiritual guide I don’t expect everyone to share my belief. What’s important here is that you engage that part of yourself beneath your waking mind. We involve the subconscious because it’s our subconscious that experiences the spiritual. This exercise puts us in a state where Cosmic Communion can occur alongside the results we desire.
I should also note what we desire plays a big part on how we are received. Ergo, “The punishment of desire is the agony of unfulfillment.” Like if you’re ardently seeking out occult mysteries and looking for a way to bend the universe to your will this will all end badly for you. Even if you take the concept of an afterlife out of the equation you’re left with the possibility it’s all cyclic and you’re coming right back. Our conscious awareness gives us a profound source of power to create and learn. God literally absorbs our emotionalized thoughts. That being said, I highly recommend we use that connection to create something pleasing to the All- each other included.
Tomorrow we’ll go a little deeper into Hermes Trismegistus and why I view the subconscious as Sophia. In the meantime:
“Close your eyes and let the mind expand. Let no fear of death or darkness arrest its course. Allow the mind to merge with Mind. Let it flow out upon the great curve of consciousness. Let it soar on the wings of the great bird of duration, up to the very Circle of Eternity.”
-Hermes
